About Electrolyzed Water

In keeping with his commitment to a natural and “green” farm, Dick Weaver invested in a system that produces electrolyzed water, or EO. Simply put, this system transforms simple tap water into two solutions, a disinfectant and a general cleaner and degreaser. Both forms of EO are 100% nontoxic and perfectly safe for humans, animals and the environment.

The first of these two solutions is hypochlorous acid, or HOCl , which has been proven in clinical tests to be 80% more powerful at 50 parts per million (ppm) than chlorine bleach at 200 ppm.  HOCl is a compound that occurs naturally in human and animal bodies where it thrives on killing bacteria.  As electrolyzed water, it is the ideal disinfectant and sanitizer which outperforms its chemical counterparts in both effectiveness and safety.  Unlike commercial disinfectants which require that a surface be sprayed and kept wet for ten minutes to kill bacteria, HOCl kills most pathogens in seconds, including E. coli, MRSA, TB, and salmonella, to mention just a few (see below for a more extensive list).  Recognized and approved  by the FDA for open wound care and the disinfecting of surgical equipment, this powerful disinfectant is perfectly safe for skin, eyes and lungs, a claim its chemical counterparts would be hard pressed to make. (Indeed, as an exfoliator, HOCl actually softens skin!). It may also be sprayed directly on fruit, vegetables, meat and fish, in fact on any food, to remove bacteria. No rinsing is needed before eating.

The second EO solution takes the form of sodium hydroxide, or NAOH, the basic building compound for all soaps and cleaners we buy in the supermarket. Once again, this solution is 100% non-toxic and safe for humans, animals and the environment.  As an effective, non-sudsing cleaner that requires no rinsing, NAOH safely cleans everything from board rooms to bathrooms, including wood floors, carpets, walls and windows, ovens and dishwashers, pots and pans. Perhaps best of all, the one doing the cleaning needs no gloves to protect his or her hands and need not worry about breathing toxic fumes.

EO is a simple combination of salt, water and electricity that come together in a cell about the size of a small tissue box. A saline solution runs through the center of the cell while fresh water runs through the outer part of the cell.  Chambers within the cell itself  are separated by membranes and electrodes. The salt solution, NACL, is attracted by the electrical current produced by two electrodes, one positive and one negative. As a result, The NA and the Cl are drawn apart, and the resulting chloride ions and sodium ions flow only through their respective membranes. This creates the two solutions: an acidic solution, HOCL, the ideal disinfectant and sanitizer (a compound occurring naturally in your body that kills bacteria); and an alkaline solution, NAOH, the basic building compound for all soaps and cleaners we buy in the supermarket.

Microbial Test Data

Test at two independent laboratories have proven that Electrolyzed Water is effective to achieve signifigant log reductions of the following microorganisms in the specified times.  One independent lab concluded that Electroylzed Water at 50 parts per million is significantly more effective than chlorine bleach at 200 parts per million.  The reports are availabe upon request.
